Pictured is a Split Case Pump that had obvious past repair issues. The pump was brought to Anderson by a customer that made rolled aluminum products. Among the chief issues, the impeller clearance and shaft sleeves were not set properly, which resulted in severe wear to the entire rotating assembly. As a result, the shaft sleeves were coming loose, and the extended metal-to-metal contact damaged the impeller beyond repair. A new rotating assembly was unfortunately required. The casing halves were sandblasted until they had a crystal clean appearance. Two Flex-A-Seal cartridge seals properly set the internal clearance needed and the pump was ready for service. The pump fit perfectly with the customer’s piping system, so they were thrilled to have it be back in service once again.
