A submersible pump is equipped with a hermetically sealed motor coupled to the pump so that it can be fully submerged in the fluid to be pumped. Their key advantage is the prevention of pump cavitation that can occur with a high elevation difference between the pump and the fluid surface. Submersible pumps push liquid to the surface rather than pulling it up, providing more efficient pumping action.
Submersible pumps can be used for draining and for pumping sewage, industrial applications and slurry. They are also used for water extraction in bore holes, wells and irrigation systems.
