Piston/Plunger Pumps

Industrial And Sanitary High Pressure Pumps

A plunger pump is a type of positive displacement pump where the high-pressure seal is stationary and a smooth cylindrical plunger slides through the seal. Pumps are available in brass, nickel aluminum bronze, 304, 316, and duplex stainless steel. Pump drives include electric motor, gas/diesel engine, hydraulic, and pneumatic.

A piston pump is a type of positive displacement pump where the high-pressure seal reciprocates with the piston. Piston pumps can be used to move liquids, foods, paints, sealants,  or compress gases. Piston pumps exhibit excellent suction capability, often not requiring flooded suction or booster pumps. Pumps are available in brass, nickel aluminum bronze, 304, 316, and duplex stainless steel. Pump drives include electric motor, gas/diesel engine, hydraulic, and pneumatic.

The difference between a piston and plunger pumps is the high-pressure seal. In a piston pump, the seal is attached to and reciprocates along with the piston. Because of this, piston pump seals wear out faster and cannot handle as much pressure compared to plunger pumps.
